Halloween is my favorite day of the year!
On Halloween, I put on my costume and go trick-or-treating.
Some houses may look spooky, but I am safe because it is all pretend.
Some costumes might scare me, too. When I see a scary costume I do not run away.I remember that it is just a person wearing a costume – like me.
When I go trick-or-treating, I walk on the sidewalk in my neighborhood.
I hold an adult’s hand and walk to different houses. I know it is not safe to walk by myself.
I go up to a house, knock on the door, and say, “trick-or-treat!”
If they have candy, I will take one piece and say, “thank you!” If they do not have candy, that is okay too. Other houses will have candy.
Sometimes, no one answers the door. If no one answers the door, I will keep my body safe and calm, and walk to the next house.
When it is time to go home, I will keep a calm body.
I have so much candy in my bucket now!
I might not be able to eat the candy that is in my bucket, but that is okay. I have a lot of yummy snacks that I can eat!
When I get home, I will take off my costume and get ready for bed.
Dressing up and going trick-or-treating on Halloween is so much fun! I cannot wait to do it again next year!
